BACKGROUND about small animal mills from petition

Facts and Statistics:
1. Small animal mills are commercial breeding facilities where animals are bred solely for profit without regard for their well-being.

2. These mills often prioritize quantity over quality, leading to overcrowded and unsanitary conditions that compromise the health of these animals.

3. Animals in small animal mills are frequently deprived of proper veterinary care, socialization opportunities, exercise space, and mental stimulation.

4. Due to irresponsible breeding practices in these mills, many animals suffer from genetic disorders or inheritable diseases.

5. The demand for small pets has increased significantly during recent years due to their popularity as companions; however, this demand has fueled the growth of unregulated breeding operations.
