• Redeploy the council employed traffic wardens, into security guards in public spaces, to protect shoppers from muggers,
pick pockets, the banned e-scooters, and to insist bicycle riders walk not ride their bikes through pedestrian only areas.

• Play the Mosquito alarm (aka Ultrasonic Teen Deterrent device) at the frequency 17.4kHz only under 25s can hear, everywhere on high street save outside coffee shops and McDonalds. It is only a problem to youths if they loiter long in the area and prevents the ugly ‘tagging’ graffiti damage to buildings. Youths will always remain the online ordering generations, whereas from age 50 the high street is the family reunion social gathering place. Not played inside shops, inside shopping malls, near parks, children’s play areas or gyms.

Community Land Trusts

  • Look into the community, who live in towns and villages, to own High Street properties.

  • The Trusts will be able to set rents and service standards.

  • Fund the purchase of commercial properties by community groups.

  • Helps prevent socially useful properties falling into the private market and becoming yet more luxury apartments and hotels.
