Resurrect Shops and Small Independent Businesses

  • Lower 17 per cent, small profits rate of corporation tax to protect small businesses with annual profits below £250,000. 
  • So no marginal relief taper rate towards
    26 per cent corporation tax, but the lowered 18 per cent on all profit til £250,000 for small businesses.  

      • (BACKGROUND - The Tories offer current main corporation tax rate of
        19 per cent small-profits rate, which will apply to companies with profits of up to £50,000 from April 2023.)

  • £448.12 per week state pension for all in UK National Insurance system, for pensioners old and new, regardless of National Insurance record, paid income tax free.  
Grey Vote are majority of customers of high streets. 

• Law to ensure banks have local bank and building society branches so public have access to cash re free ATMs and people can talk in person to a bank clerk in branch. This also helps the independent retailers.

• Nationalise Royal Mail and have Royal Mail post offices, on ground floors so disabled / elderly / mum with baby buggies’ access. 

• Free car parking in town centres. 

• Free Bus pass from age 60 men and women.

• More disabled parking spaces. 

• More public benches on high street. 

• Rows of single cubicle free public toilets in town centres (3 unisex, 1 with baby changing facilities, 1 larger disabled). 

• Redeploy the council employed traffic wardens, into security guards in public spaces, to protect shoppers from muggers,
pick pockets, the banned e-scooters, and to insist bicycle riders walk not ride their bikes through pedestrian only areas. 

• Play the Mosquito alarm (aka Ultrasonic Teen Deterrent device) at the frequency 17.4kHz only under 25s can hear, everywhere on high street save outside coffee shops and McDonalds. It is only a problem to youths if they loiter long in the area and prevents the ugly ‘tagging’ graffiti damage to buildings. Youths will always remain the online ordering generations, whereas from age 50 the high street is the family reunion social gathering place. Not played inside shops, inside shopping malls, near parks, children’s play areas or gyms.
