Fight back against self scanning

LAW TO BAN SHOPS / BUSINESSES NOT TAKING CASH PAYMENT

• A statutory (by law) duty to accept cash payment.

SUPERMARKETS TO PROVIDE FULLY STAFFED CASH TILLS

• Law for cash tills to be manned by staff in supermarkets for payment by cash or card.

• Reduce Supermarket Self-Checkout, Self-Scan and Self-Service tills in the daily supermarkets, big or small.

• Minimum wage of supermarket staff to be £16 per hour from age 16.

• The cashless, with no staff supermarkets begun by Amazon and being considered by UK supermarkets, where you scan your smartphone app before entering the store, and cameras log your purchases and you’re charged as you leave the store, will be a different and smaller store only open during weekdays for lunch times between
12 noon and 2pm. Not weekends. These stores discriminate by digital exclusion.

TAKEOVER OF PRIVATE FIRMS GIVE SAME WORKER RIGHTS
• Amend takeover code to ensure takeover proposal protects workers’ jobs and works pension.

PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS DESTROYING JOBS
• Forbid private equity firms buying up shops and shutting them down, losing shopworker jobs and physical shops on the high street.
• Rent cap and forbid change of use of shops, to homes, on high street.
