ITEMS THAT WOULD BE ZERO RATED FOR VAT TAX

  • End VAT on food for pets

(currently 20 per cent). 


  • End VAT on veterinary fees and veterinary medicines (currently 20 per cent). 

  • End VAT on suncream (currently 20 per cent VAT as called cosmetics)

  • End VAT on medicines bought at chemists
    (currently 20 per cent)

  • End VAT on medicines bought by NHS hospitals (currently 20 per cent).

  • End VAT on NHS prescriptions (replaced with 20 per cent VAT on private prescriptions).

  • Zero rate VAT on Heart Restart Tax on Defibrillators for community groups, sports clubs, small businesses, and private owners, as well as ending need for large businesses, NHS and councils to reclaim the VAT.

  • Survival rates for out of hospital cardiac (heart) arrests are shockingly low at only 8%. But defibrillators can increase survival rates to as high as 70% if treatment is received within the first few minutes.
  • The VAT added to defibrillators is sometimes between £200-£500 extra per device.
  • In January 2023, the Irish Government removed the defibrillator tax in Ireland.
